Ingleside Pony League Champions Team

Ingleside, a small town in South Texas near Corpus Christi, developed Pony League in 2009. What better news to receive at the January 2010 President’s meeting, the Champions Division is here. Ingleside took this news to heart; they advertised, found a sponsor, and a coach and proceeded to sign up players for their new “Champs” team.

As registration days came and went, sign-ups for “Champs” were slow. Getting close to opening day, the “Champs” coach asked “how many players do I have?” The answer he got was, ”Just two”, he responded with a big smile, “Good, I have a pitcher and a catcher.” By opening day the team consisted of six players.

Remembering Ingleside is a small town and there are no other Champions teams around, members and businesses of the small community step into play the “Champs”. Opening Ceremonies was held Saturday March 27, 2010, the new Champions Division was introduced and The “Champs” played their first game against the Ingleside Catholic Church Altar Boys.

Word of mouth works well and the “Champs” now have 11 players with room to grow and are scheduled to play every Saturday morning until closing ceremonies, May 29, 2010.

Thanks PONY for this wonderful opportunity.
